thats my future home system lol!
hell no - the only thing that i got him to do was give me the parameters for the speaker itself, nothing else...nd did ibeaner help u with those facts??????????
If you cut the spiders loose on any sub it may move 4" peak to peak, but it wont do it during play, just like a W7. Mechanical excursion doesnt matter, because it will never perform at that level. In reality, they aren't capable of 4" unless your conditions are standing on the cone and pushing it up with loads of force.I didn't say Warbleed is god ... I said JL listed 4 inches of peak-to-peak EXCURSION (NOT XMAX !) and that was about what Warbleed said it was ...
You said, "Where did the other 1.7" go ?" and I responded that it's capable of 4" peak-to-peak, it's just non-linear at 4" p-p ...
And at what point did I say that it would travel 4" peak-to-peak under normal circumstances ?
Someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning ...
If you want to attack someone, attack JL for listing suspension capabilities instead of linear travel in their advertisement ...
That has been my point exactly. It doesn't matter what it can do in conditions that don't exist, if it wont do it in a car during play, it doesn't matter. Speakers are there to recreate an audio recording, not to look pretty or have fancy numbers attached to them. If it doesn't do it in the application, it doesnt matter. What's the point of talking about how far past the xmax the W7's suspension can travel? It wont be linear. If so, we should start talking about all motor limited subs in this regard. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif
In most installs, a suspension limited design (Brahma) or a motor limited design (W7) still needs to be compared with distortion being considered. Otherwise you are comparing apples and oranges.
Again, you confuse Xmech with Xsus. You needn't cut any spiders off to make a W7 move that far. It has linear suspension travel that far, Xmech is a bit beyond that. Now obviously if we need to cut the spiders off a speaker to make it move 4", then that's far beyond Xmech, let alone Xsus. So, that's why your example is rather stupid. If you cut the spiders loose on any sub it may move 4" peak to peak, but it wont do it during play, just like a W7. Mechanical excursion doesnt matter, because it will never perform at that level. In reality, they aren't capable of 4" unless your conditions are standing on the cone and pushing it up with loads of force.
