New Headunit install help JVC KD-Adv38

Hi guys, new here.. looking for assistance on a new HU install.

My vehicle: 95 318I. Head unit: JVC KD-Adv38 Currently installed HUioneer DEP-P5200

I not very knowledged with vehicles and this is all kinda new to me, but I thought I would give installing my own HU a shot, as I glean that it is somewhat straightforward.

I do have an HU already installed, its an older model, but I have pulledthe deck yet to see what is plugged in back there.. too nervous that I would ruin it before I could learn the process.

So im wondering(from the pics provided), if it seems that I already possess everything neccessary to essentially, plug in play new new unit, or if I will need to purchase excess parts? Also, should I be connecting the wires with tape, or a crimper and cap?

those wires are not standard colors. hmmm... and they have already been hacked into. is the unit pictured the JVC or the Pioneer?

you will need to undo the connections to the existing head unit. hopefully the previous installed used a harness adapter so you can perform the connections on your work bench.

crimp with properly sized crimp connectors. tape only will not suffice. no home wiring twist caps.

let us know if the previous installed cut off the old harness. if so, you have your work cut out for you and you need to identify factory wiring colors vs. aftermarket wiring colors. they will be different.

note you should disconnect battery negative before performing any work. this will save you blown fuses and hassles.

Thank you for your help keep hope alive! I was able to get this unit installed on Sat. by another forum member, goindef(thanks man!!).

Only issue is, we were kinda pressed for time, and a few features arent working. This unit has the ability to play audio via bluetooth, usb and dvd.. but there is no sound for any of those settings. Only the radio tuner. Any ideas what I could check to rectify this issue?
