New Enclosure for AB XFL 12's From 32Hz to 40Hz?

I've got a pair of XFL 12's on an AB VFL 150.1 with an AGM in the trunk and the big 3 under the hood. The current box (I think) is 4^ft @ 32hz with a port of 5" x 26" (I built it last summer and can't remember exactly what it was) It plays very low but all of my normal rap songs that I listened to in the factory pre fab boxes don't hit for **** anymore in this new box I built. It seems unless I'm playing decaf hardly any of my music sounds good. Tyga - Rack City is about the only rap song that hits low enough to sound great. I believe this is because I tuned the freq too low so I was thinking that maybe another box with the same specs with a 5" x 12" port should put me at around 40hz. I don't really care about playing low, I just think I would prefer it LOUD

Any suggestions?

Block off the existing port then add an aero port and tune to your liking.

Only cost you $20 and a few hours. If it makes a big difference then you can invest in a new box.

Check out my thread aero port size

Go bigger and tune slightly higher. I wouldn't tune to 40 though, that's way to high. If you go with 5cuft@34hz, anything from 30hz+ will be a good bit louder. Between 33-40hz you'll gain around 2db. Does it actually sound bad at the higher frequencies or just not loud? Do u know the size/tuning of the prefab? I can model them and compare to what you have now to get an idea on what's missing

you can tune to 40 hz all you want man, you tune to what you want your music to sound like. Most 40 hz tuning boxes sound decent on normal music, it just doesnt hit decaf lows, I would not go any bigger with the enclosure if you tune that high though, it'll create a bigger hump at your peak. You tune the boxes to what you like listening to, not what forum dudes recommend because they prefer their bass to sound differently. I cant stand tuning under 34/35hz, doesnt hit the notes in my music library for sh*t. It is woofer dependant too, some woofers can respond well to box tuning, some will not. Some naturally can play higher notes, some cant play higher notes cleanly to save their lives. The XFLs respond pretty well to box tuning. Try lowering sq inches of port to 13-14 for more musicality too.

I like the idea of plugging the current port and putting in Aero's. A friend of mine has two 12s in a box he made and he just used two 4" pvc ports and it sounds incredible. Although he is running two hcca 12's on an xtr 3700.1 but that's beside the point, lol. Do I just put two 4" pvc pipes in a board that plugs the current port and try different lengths until my music sounds good? The current port is 5" wide x 11.5" tall x 26" long. The box is 28" deep. I'm guessing then that I could use two 5" pvc ports up to 23" in length. I've never done aero ports so I'm not sure where to start.

Box is 34" wide x 28" deep x 13" tall. Port is 5" x 11.5" x 26"-ish (Can't remember) to equal 34hz but I swear it's about 30-32hz so I messed up somewhere. It was my first box

If you used Torres and an L shaped port but didn't plug in 3 for the common walls it will drop your tuning. If you just add aeros to your current port you'll only lose port area. Tuning will be relatively the same. You need to close up the slot port and add the aeros in another spot.
