I wanted to play around with some new router bits and get some large pieces of wood cleared out of the garage at my dad's request, so I built a few enclosures yesterday and today.

I may decide to keep the single 8" box for a home sub, but if not, the two remaining (see pics) will both be up FS once carpeted.

This enclosure is 1.1 cubic feet net. Just slightly larger than RE's spec box for the 8's. It will also work well for most other 8's. Cutout diameter is 7 1/8".

It is tuned to 35 hertz and has 17"^2 of port area. I've tried an identical box to this with RE 8's and it seems to be a pretty solid setup. Tight bass that gets pretty loud.

The port has been routered all the way through to give the rounded edges. Titebond II was used for all joints. 3/4" MDF, of course.

The carpet is a medium-gray.

Dimensions are 24.5 width, 15.5 depth, 10.5 height. Forgot to list that.

so, what if peoples subs have a smaller, or larger cutout?
That's why I listed it...so they can check beforehand.

I checked 4-5 mainstream companies and they all were either 7 1/16 or 7 1/8.

They're actually not bad. Fits 12 gauge fairly easily and the spring-loaded terminals provide a pretty secure connection. They're also small and I'd like to have as little area of the box wall made up of thin plastic as possible.

Not to mention a $5 terminal would just add more to the price of the box. When it works well, only causes a minimal voltage drop, and will most likely be hidden anyways, no point in spending more.

if i use a terminal like that, i usually fill the whole back of the thing with liquid nails.

wont be comming off then //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Here's the updated pictures of the other two boxes...

Single 10" enclosure is 1.4 cubic feet net and is tuned to 35 hertz. It has black carpet. Terminal placement is identical to the dual 8" box above.

Single 8" enclosure is 0.6 cubic feet net and is tuned to 37 hertz. It has the same medium gray carpet as the dual 8" box described above. This box does not have a terminal.
