Well I just recently completed my full audio installation in my '98 Volkswagen Passat.

I started from the ground up and used some decently middle end items.

6.5" CDT Components with 1" silk tweeters w/ new 480 crossovers

(2) Kv11v2 (10") Elemental Designs subs

Elemental Designs Nine.1 sub amp

Elemental Designs Nine.2 component amp

2 custom fiberglass enclosures for the drivers and passenger side of the trunk.

Both enclosures are angled towards the opposite sides of the trunk, forward, and have about .75 cu ft of air space. Great, since its on the higher end of ED's recommended air space.

So, on with the pictures. I shoud have pictures of the CDT's up within a day or so.

So far, the quality of the bass and the mid's that the comps provide is out of this world. I'm really happy with the quality of the music that comes out of my system. Well worth the few months that its taken me to get everything installed slowly and effectivly. Sorry for the smudges on the lense there with those last few pics, will try to get better ones once the rain stops.

Enjoy,

Steve

i really like the way you floated the amps. easy for you because you got them **** actuators on your tunk //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/mad.gif.c18f003ab0ef8a0d9c27ca78d77a6392.gif

looks good - now get it all cleaned up and empty that trunk for some money shots (when rain stops)

mount that neon, turn the lights on, and put some nice aluminum grills on the woofers //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

I like!
(especially those enclosures, nice work)

Thanks, unfortunatly I cant take credit for the work on the enclosures. A guy I know from another site made them for me specificly for these subs and with the amount of air space I needed.

From the pictures above, you can see that on each of the 4 mounting feet, there are threaded rods and nuts. On the Passats, there is a rear deck that I drilled through from the trunk side. Then I inserted the threaded rod from the trunk, going up. Attached a nut and a washer. On the trunk side, I did the same thing. and tightened the nuts up, pinching the rear deck between them. When I had about an inch clearance from the top of the amps and the rear deck, I had another set of nuts and washers, holding the mounting feet in place at the proper height.

I think that mounting the amps in this manner is a more effecient way to keep the heat being drawn off the amps. It also allows me to keep most of my trunk space, which was one of my main goals with using the type of enclosures that I used.

Maybe a few pictures will help to describe what I did a little better.
