New compony FLXX subwoofers

the basket does look similar just the cone an rubber looked the same as obsidian to me.
FLXX uses a 4 spoke basket and the obsidian uses a 12 spoke. They both have rubber surrounds but the obsidian uses a proprietary surround that works a bit differently. They both used stitched surround/cones but a lot of subs are starting to use that. Cone is your standard 12" paper cone

so the flexx blew after 600 watts? at 4 minutes or how did that work
Yeah after 4 minutes of 600w going to it it blew. Obsidian lasted twice as long and had more of a continuous amount of power going to it whereas the FLXX was babied to start off

so pretty much the flxxs are good exept for the fact they cant take 5 times the rated power lol
Or to be correct - they can't take rated power for nearly as long as another company's product that they claimed they "don't have less cooling" than. The Flxx woofer did a good job in the SPL test against the Obsidian...until it blew.

dang so that means in real life application if i was playing 1200 watts 2 2 speakers they would blow? thats not good lol
Nick can chime in about what the testing really was. That wasn't on music I can assure you, it was most likely a free air test tone at like 50hz

o ok well thanks for all the info guys,

i was planning on running 6 15s of these on one 4500 sundown

i know that aint much power but 6 of anything will get loud to me.

plus the price is pretty good for 6 new shipped to me

I'm sure you'd be happy with them. You're not running enough power to cause any issues with blowing them either so I wouldn't see any problems.
