New cd deck controls

I have an mp3 player and I want to have a line in so I can listen to it in my car. Right now I use an FM transmitter, but the sound quality is terrible. I've tried the tape adapters, but those sound bad also.

I have a 2002 Jeep. It has the controls on the back of the steering wheel to adjust volume, change CDs in the changer etc. My question is this, will I be able use those controls and the built in CD changer if I get a new CD deck?

Or, could I somehow create my own line in port by manally soldering into the system, or something like that?

Depending on the deck you buy, i dont think it should be so much of a hassle as soldering wires. The deck i just bought (Pioneer 860) has a wire specifically for wired remotes, which im guessing would be the steering wheel one.

you'll need to make sure that the cd changer is compatible with your car in order to use the steering controls because some cd changers that work with stock hu use fm modulators and come with their own control unit. i'm not fully sure about this but if your hu can accept a cd changer, you could try finding a schematic or a pin out of the cd changer input to find which which wires are the left and right audio signals. from there, you could wire and line in.

the wired remote can be used with steering controls with a 3rd party adapter...pretty neat feature
