New car, new stereo. I need some help!

Ok, so am going to start with just new speakers now.

What are 2 good 6.5's for the front, and 2 good 6x9's for the back.

Lets try not to get too expensive to start, I know you can spend well over 1k on this kind of stuff.

Ok, now If I wanted to spend all of my money on it, I could afford that. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif Lets say I only have $600 to replace all 4 speakers, and amp them from the 3sixty (do not include the cost of the 3sixty in the 600)

so you're saying 600 for 2 pair of speakers?

Plus, ditch the capacitor, box, and subs. Keep the amp and wiring and get a different single subwoofer. Build an enclosure out of 0.5" birch plywood and retain 90% of the strength of 0.75" MDF and have 40% less weight (let alone a smaller box so it affords you more hatch/trunk space). Subwoofers have come a long way in the past few years and there are a lot of smaller, lighter, offerings that will provide equal/more SPL than you currently have with a much smaller enclosure. Not to mention the sound quality that some of them have to offer. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I read this wrong....600 will have to include an amp

If you're going to get a dedicated sub stage, then forget about the rear speakers for now (in fact, disconnect them altogether). Put all your focus on the front stage so you get the best imaging. Once you get the front stage dialed in, if it's still not enough after a few weeks of acclimation, then throw some decent 6x9 coax in the rear, like Pioneer's new TS-D6902R.

Maybe something along these lines:

1. 3Sixty.2 and set up to run the front comps active.

2. Infinity 5350A $249

3. Pioneer TS-D720C $159 (or get the TS-C720PRS for $250)

4. PPI PCX104 $99

5. KOL-AK44 $50

TOTAL: $557-648

Everything will have free shipping except the 3Sixty.2 (not avail from OCS and about $400 elsewhere on the internet) and the Knu wiring kit.

Later on down the road: RAAMmax BXT for the doors and trunk.

Thanks! Can someone reccomend a decent box? I am correct in understanding that I can use my current amp for the sub, and the one you listed for the speakers? I see is is a 5 channel amp, so I am guessing it is an all-in one solution?

Also, what If I double my budget? Lets say $1400 including the 3sixty and everything I would need.

well if you double your budget youre obviously going to get whatever you want lol. try not to spend more than 600 on the door speakers, and 250 on the amp. also, i would go with an infinity basslinkI(personal preference because its powered and provides clean punchy bass) unless you want your car to be heard from outside.

also, get a kenwood cleansweep since you arent replacing the HU....thats what i will be doing. it makes a clean signal go to the amp, so your sound is reproduced cleanly.

1. I'd say build one yourself... run you about $25-40 in MDF and materials. Unless you're wanting a custom form-fitting fiberglass box and you have no fiberglassing experience.

2. The amp I linked was an all-in one amp. You wouldn't need anything else.

3. If you double your budget, you can do some seriously sweet things. But now that you've been presented with some options, what are you leaning towards? Fronts only, front only running active, front and rears, single sub only, multiple subs, etc etc etc?

I would like to get the 3sixty, replace all 4 speakers, and get a 10" sub with a sealed box for the trunk. I would like to re-use my existing amp if possible, and get another amp for the 4 speakers in the car. For the box, I think getting a custom one that is fiber-glass would br really cool. My car is BRIGHT Red, and I could get one to match.

Also, where is a good place to get this stuff installed? I have this place near me called 816 audio and wheels, but I am not sure if they are any good. They did a great job tinting the windows, but I am not sure about the audio work.

Ask for credentials. Most respectable shops keep a portfolio of past projects and work performed.

What amp do you have now?
