new box but problem with wiring

Hey i just got a new box built for me and im having some trouble figuring out the wiring. I have two DVC subs that i want to wire in parallel but i dont know how i can do that since there are only two black/red wire terminal connectors. Do i need to drill another hole in between the divider to connect both subs and then have the respecting wires exit through the terminal?

Are you parallel wiring the two VCs on the subs themselves and then wanting to parallel both of those together?

Better question - what is the VC configuration of the subs 1st off (Dual 4 Ohm or Dual 2 Ohm or something else?) and then what is the final resistance load you're wanting to present to your amplifier?

hah sorry, yeah i could see how that would be impoortant. They are 4-ohm DVC and i believe its a 2 ohm resistance to my two channel amp.

And im not quite positive on how im parallel wiring it but im going to do positive amp to positive on one sub to positive on the other sub, then the same for the negative and then just connecting the rest of the voice coils. There is a diagram on this website, all the way on the bottom

Okay - you've told me that you're using a 2 channel amp to power this pair of subwoofers.

Are you wanting to power each sub off of its own amp channel or are you wanting to bridge the amp to a single, more powerful output channel and then drive both of the subs off of that bridged single channel?

A DVC 4 Ohm subwoofer can, by itself, only be wired to either 2 Ohms with the coils in parallel or 8 Ohms with the coils in series.

A pair of DVC 4 Ohm subs can be wired to either 1 Ohm, 4 Ohms, or 16 Ohms together (though I cannot see the need or even the desire to wire them to 16 Ohms so that option can be disregarded entirely)

To wire each of them to a 2 Ohm load independently and then drive them with their own dedicated amp channel wire them like so:

1_4ohmDVC_2ohm.gif

and where the diagram shows "2 Ohm" at the end of the wiring that's where the terminal cup for that sub on the box comes into play and then the amp channel powering that sub gets wired to that terminal cup. Do likewise for the other sub and viola! You're done.

If you're wanting to wire the subs to a 4 Ohm final load and drive them with the amp in bridged configuration wire each sub like so:

1_4ohmDVC_8ohm.gif

and then where it says "8 Ohm" in the diagram that's where you'll attach the subwoofer leads to the terminal cups.

After that you'll take the amp, wire it into bridged configuration (following the instructions for the bridging process in the owner's manual) and then the positive output from the bridged amp will go to both positive terminal cup inputs. Then do likewise with the negative output from the bridged amp to both negative terminal cup connections.

Has this helped at all or simply made you more confused?
