New BOX build for the Q's

Alright people, I know these pictures aren't that great, and that I should've started the thread when I had all my supplies together before making any cuts..... BUT better late than never... right? Anyways, the new box is 5.65cuft, 4.2 after displacements, 42 wide, 17 tall and deep, the port is 15.5 tall by 3.75 wide tuned to 32Hz at 24" total length. I'm using Titebond II and an air nailer for construction. I thought the motors on the Q's were too good looking to box up so I also put a plexi window in the box so the pretty babies can be seen. I'll be finishing this thing as quickly as possible including building a new amprack which should have enough room for upgrading the amps to either Audioque's or Sundown's (if they could fit). On to the pics.....

This is the box mached up, the bottom rear and side panels are glued.

This is a closer picture of the plexi window and YES the paper is still on the window to protect it until the box is finished. Notice all the white shavings on the floor where I routed a shelf around the edge of the plexi to ensure secure and airtight mounting.

Just in case you're all wondering, YES, I used my box calculator to design this enclosure... I figure the best way to guarantee that something works is to use it.

Just for the fun of it here's some pics.... My little Brother's sub came in Monday and we set his and mine out on the floor for a little picture fun.... The kids were playing together nicely, LOL.

Here's a side by side, his 18" Fi SSD and one of my 12" Fi Q's.

Here's a shot of bub's 18" SSD from the side, I don't care what anyone says that's alot of subwoofer. We'll be attempting to put this thing in his '08 Grand Prix.

That's all we have for today, I'll get some more on here real soon.

Okay guys, got the front and top attached today. It's nearing completion now, still have a little bracing to install and then a lot of body filler, sanding and painting to do. The amp rack will be getting a complete overhaul as well.

Enough of that, onto the pictures.

Picture of the box without the front and top attached, notice the 45 in the left corner to help smooth airflow.

Picture of the front/port walls being attached, I used the old brake rotors to help clamp the port walls down on the inside.

Here my son Austin is showcasing the box for us all.

It's hard to notice in the last two pictures but the inside corner and leading edge of the port walls have been rounded with a 3/8" round-over bit before installing, here's the pictures of those.

Here's a few pics of the top getting installed. I don't have a lot clamps yet so I'm using the rotor's again to help keep pressure on the glue for a good bond.

So there's a nice little update. I'll be gone at a workshop for work next week so hopefully I can have more updates uploaded next weekend.
