New baby arrived today....

i thought anything past 3/4 is clipping and thats why you set your gains at 3/4 volume?
depends on your head unit, some clip at 3/4's and other can go a bit higher. I beleive my Alpine 9835 clips around 31 out of 35.. To the original poster, turn the gain down, it shouldn't be maxed out. The bass(sub volume) on your head unit should be at 15(it's not a bass boost),15 is where it puts out 4 volts, so its o.k to have your sub out at 15 out of 15.Reset your gain with the sub out at 15 and go from there.Turn the bass boost off, although 2 out of 18 aini't bad, but its better to have the bass boost at 0 and set the gains correctly, if you do, you won't need bass boost. Not to hijack your thread either but i finally installed my two 15 Mags off a kicker zx1500.1 and all i can say is wow, crazy loud. glad your happy and keep bumping. If you don't do as most have suggested you can almost guarantee your Magnum won't last either.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

robin plays its full tilt alot, (or close to it) on his 880, and his components dont distort or anything.

The Pioneers (or at a minimum the 880) do not clip until 60/60. I have my gains set with -10dB tones but with low level material I can play my 880 at 59/60 and not have any head unit clipping either.

It was a little scary at first. I think psychologically we, as humans, are used to things beginning to clip at around 75%. Something comforting about even though we know its technically "all the way up" we like the fact that we still have some rotation left in the knob.

Problem was the gain setting, if I remember right you had decent preamp outs on your head unit so the gain shouldn't be most of the way up. Need to get a DMM on that amp. Sorry to hear the RLP popped //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

The mag can hold more power but a clipped signal is a clipped signal so you wanna figure that gain setting out before it starts cookin the mag.

my moms fiancee is sick today and cant do it, and im not buying one, i turned the gain down until we can get it perfect

i put a dmm on the rl-p today and each coil reads 2.1-2.0

soooo i drilled a new ground and sanded down the contact spot for a while to make sure everything is 100% right, checked over all my wiring and everything seems to be fine

rl-p = not blown //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif happy night for me
