New Aq2200D not that loud?

If the remote gain is set at max and the clipping indicator led does not light up you need to increase the gain setting on the amp a little. Turn the gain up on the amp until the clipping indicator on the remote comes on when the remote gain is turned about 3/4 of the way up when your HU is about 3/4 volume.
The remote gain functions as an amp gain turndown. It will not allow you to exceed the gain setting on the amp but will let you turn down the gain.
Do you not recommend keeping the remote gain @ max? If I do set the gain so I see clipping indicator @3/4 on remote bass then can I raise it past that 3/4 point?

Should this be done with a test tone or music because I originally set it with 50hz -3db test tone

If you set the amp gain by using the remote I would use music. You want to see the clipping indicator come on around 3/4 on the remote with the hu around 3/4 volume. When the clipping led comes on you want to turn the remote down until the clipping led turns off or just blinks as the music frequencies change.

The demands on the amp change depending on the music played and the settings on the hu. The clipping indicator tells you when to turn the remote up or down to keep the amp from clipping.

OK I understand, I have one more question...what is keeping me from using the remote gain as THE gain. Can I just turn the gain to max on the amp and use the gain control and clipping indicator to tune it to the song?

Thanks DJL Ill try that tomorrow!

You don't want to max the gain out on the amp. You want to set it as close as possible to the output of the hu or just a tad into clipping. (5%-10% thd) You can then use the remote clipping indicator to keep from pushing the amp. If you max the gain on the amp you set yourself up for making a mistake.

When you set your amp gain with a dmm the gain setting is only set for the hu settings and frequency you used when setting the gain. Simply put if you change the hu by adding or lowering bass boost or volume the original gain setting is no longer valid. Increasing the volume or even changing music can cause your amp to clip. This is why we added the clipping indicator. I have over simplfied some what but I think the point is made.
