New and need some help..

I have a 96 Mercury sable and I just bought some 300 watt rear speakers. They were just a tad big for the holes already there, and they sound alright unless I turn up the volume too high. Was wondering if there was a way to fix this? I don't know if the hole's have to be exactly the right size. I saw at Canadian tire they had Speaker protects that cover the bottom of the speaker, would that work?

Another thing is I wanted to know if I could use a Home theatre system subwoofer in my car. I found a 150$ 300 watt amplifier and was thinking of getting it, and was wondering if a theatre system sub would work. Also, the passenger side speakers do not work too well, front and back. Does anyone know what could be causing that problem?

are the 5x7's or 6x8's? i think there's an adapter already in the car, your best bet would be to dremel 1/2 inch around the ends of the opening, use a razor to cut out a template for the speakers you bought. also, what kind of speakers did you buy? they'll be louder if you get that thing flush with the metal. also, buy a sheet or two of dynamat and slip that under the lip of the speaker, that'll really help once its lined up.
