Just bought a Rockford Fosgate p4004 4 channel amp and have only hooked it up once in the house and set it to 2 channel mode and put all the wattage into the front channels but it just didnt seem like a 1000+ watt amp i was powering my subs with a 540 watt JVC and it seemed about the same in the house, The Rockford was maybe a little louder and alot deeper but it didnt seem as domestic as i thought it would be and also when i ran 1500 watts into the 12" MTX thunder 6000's wich are in a sealed box i thought they would kill the place, but the cones seemed messed up or something cause when i turned it up a little the cones would crack and pop and i wasnt even up that loud so i tryed my 10" rockford punch's wich are in a q.logic bandpass box they they about shook down the house but there only 800 watts and im afraid of putting them in a car with that big amp. So maybe its just cause im not in a car yet and its in the open and im only using a 12 volt battery and small speaker wire (just testing it) my cousin who has 2 10" Lightning Audio Strikes in a sealed box and a legacy 800 watt amp kills my stuff, so does anybody know if mine would sound alot better in a car?

Your power supply could only be giving it 15 amps, it look on the fuses on the back, make sure it's got about 1 to 1.5 times that many amps available.

Usually only amps with 15 amp fuses will reach full potential in a home, maybe more, but it depends on how nice your computer's PSU is. *grin*

Organize your story & write it right & you might get more responses to help you out. Just by looking at your post & trying to make sense of it just seems too much work.

Sorry for not typing perfect, Im using a wireless keyboard and it will only catch half the letters I type in... This was my first big amp in the car audio world and was just wondering if it would be louder in a car, Because it didn't seem much louder than a 540 watt amp in the house.

is he saying that the p4004 is a 1000+ amp?
hehehe it better be cause I payed 300$ for it
