new amp for l5

i have a 04 monte ss. i have 2 12 l5 in the trunk and a old jbl 1000 watt amp. i am also running 4g wires but want to change to 0g. i got a 100amp fuse under the hood too. i am goin to take it out and put prolly the brutus 1210 class d amp in there. but i know that i can run 1200w rms to the subs just dont know if that would be the best matchup wit the amp that i chose(brutus). but my lights dim on hard bass hits. i dont know if i should get a optimun(which color) and a h.o. alt. then should i just get a bass cap( what size) to fix the problem. i got a pioneer 4100dvd headunit in the car too. can any body help me out.
