New amp, do I need 0 gauge?

I got the new Hifonics BXI-2010D amp, wiring my subs to 2 ohms for 1300 watts. The amp says it accepts 0 gauge(molded) power wire. What does molded mean?

and I have 4 gauge wire running right now. Would this hurt if I used the 4 gauge wire for now until I get 0 gauge wire? I know I will not run as much current, I will eventually run 0 gauge, but would it hurt for now to run the 4 gauge to get the amp setup and test it out?

if its a good quality 4 gauge and not too long of a run , it should be fine temporarily until you upgrade
Alright, thanks. And should I just get 1/0 gauge wire. it seems alot easier to find.

make absolutely sure you put a 300 amp (or even a 250) at the amplifier!!! it has no internal fuses.

4 guage will will work temporarily and 1/0 is the same as 0 it is a guaging standard. there are some that will argue that but awg wire charts are what it is based off of.

1/0 and 0 are exactly the same. and actually you can use 2 guage wire i have 2 of those amps running off of it just fine.
