New Alternator...recommedations

I'm looking to get a new alternator for my '02 Explorer. I've narrowed it down to Mechman, or DC Power.

Mechman's offering...$299 for a 250 amp (they say it should do almost 280 amps, but rate it at 250 to keep it simple...or so they tell me.) that does 150 amp at idle.

DC Power's offering... They tell me...will do 200 amp at idle, and 230 amp max. Their price $389.

One does better at idle, while the other has more max output. Neither sounds bad. Anyone have any experience with either of these manufacturers?

Higher the idle the better. Without knowing what you plan on pushing in your, I can't make a recommendation.
I'll be running two Boston GT-28 amps. I don't know the actual current draw, as they will be driving 3 ohm loads. But, they each have 4-25amp fuses. The mids will be seeing roughly 275/side, max. The single JBL GTi 12" sub should see 900 W max.

Great pick man, Dave and Robbie are great!
Dave even threw in a 1/0 crimp terminal. I was having a hard time finding the right size terminal. The factory mounting boss won't accept a typical sized terminal. The DC Power terminal might be larger, but I just feel better knowing that the one Dave supplied WILL fit.
