New Alt Still voltage drops!

It is very simple - Get a real voltmeter first and measure at the battery and at the amp- IF THERE IS A BIG DIFFERNECE you have a wiring problem. You ask us for advice and have others do the work - do the guys working on your car have a clue? Instead of paying someone that clearly is lost, spend $10 at home depot or radio shack and see what really is happening

Taxi - if you pound 24/7/365 yes, sooner or later your reserve will run out - it will take a VERY long time and all you need to do is for 30 minutes a month (one minute a day) is NOT have the stereo full tilt and the ALT would bring everything back up. My point no one is drawing 100% of the system 100% of the time they drive. Sure if we wanted to destroy our ears and our electrical system it could be done. Even with modifications - maintainence must still be performed. Just because you add a turbo to a car - does not allow you to go past redline of the motor.......

Fully agreed, but the fact that his voltage is dropping and staying low until he turns the volume down indicates to me that adding a battery won't fix the problem in this case. He is exceeding the capacity of the alt for whatever reason and adding a battery won't fix that.
