Have any of you read up on these? I remember hearing about them in February but I've tried to forget about it till now since they come out in July...

What do you all think we can expect from them? I'm curious about the voice coil configurations, I know that JL sometimes has 3ohm crap and I wonder what these will be. I'm just hoping it doesnt make things difficult when trying to run them off an amp...

There is a few things you can be sure of. 1) It will be a good product 2) It will cost a bit more than most 6.5" subs. Whether or not they'll be better than the other options is anyone''s guess.

Call me crazy, but the picture there is an 8W3v3.

6.5" sub is a pretty niche (and borderline useless) market. I think they need to look at scaling up the W7 line to an 18" (or maybe a 16" //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) speaker.

The thing I'm thinking about is that there really aren't many 6.5 subs out there. Rather than JL thinking that they have the monopoly I think they should be thinking "****, how we gonna sell a 6.5 sub?"

I would imagine these couldnt cost TOO much...I mean who else would buy them but me?

That pic is an 8w3v3 I think and they have a pic of it on the announcement because they 6.5's arent out yet I guess...Here is the link http://mobile.jlaudio.com/jlaudio_pages.php?page_id=214

6.5's are good for saving space and can hit **** hard if you do it right....//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

they will be good for ppl with small cars andwho are just lookin to fill in a lil base that the stock shit misses
I have to disagree here. If you are talking about only using one, then yes...

But, two ported might be just what I'm looking for.

Don't forget, 2 6.5" drivers have almost as much cone area as a 10":fyi:

x2. They would make so much more money by upgrading the w7 than downgrading the w3v3.

i don't know about that.. for most people who buy jl the 13w7 is way more than they'd listen to... the reason jl is doing so well is because they market shit that any given on the street would go buy and be pleased with.. they don't aim for the loudest spl... i know that 2 13w7s can get too loud to listen to while staying crystal... so why would they make them bigger from a marketing standpoint?

I think you should move to 8's... 6.5's can have some alright output in the right enclosure, but there is so much more you could do with 8's.

That's irrelivant in this case...If you could upgrade to an 8, why not a 10 or a 12? The idea is to save the space and to keep the required power low. You can put a 6.5 ANYWHERE:)

In your other thread you said you could make your 6.5's bottom out. With 8's you could have increased output with little if any space increase (dunno how big your chamber(s) are) and they would have more power handling. Regardless, you can put ANYTHING anywhere if you are good with glass, but really beyond an 8 it just looks gaudy.

I certainly can get them to bottom out. I think that's more of a function of what Megalomaniac was saying about them getting unstable when pushed too far. I dont think that's really a factor of the 6.5 in general but the EU700 specifically.

I agree though, the 8" would have an advantage on output. There is no need to argue that point, it's sheer mathematics.
