Got Bass?
Its that time of the year again where I get the urge to spend more money on my never finished Durango. I have a lot of stuff planned that I will hopefully be able to pull off by the '07 show season. Any comments or suggestions are welcome.

1. New wall. Gonna stay around 30 cubes and tuned to 32hz. Full custom amp/battery rack.

-4 RE MT 15's

-4 Powerbass XA-3000's

-4 Kintetik 2400's

2. Door panels. Not exactly sure what I'm gonna go with right now. I'm leaning towards ID Horns under the dash and possibly 8" mids in the doors. I'm open to suggestions here cause they need to be able to keep up with my bass. Anywho, glassed door panels on the way.

3. Hater vision. My 19" LCD was cool until it stopped working... Aiming to use something around 32" this time around.

4. Custom center console and overhead with fog machine/ switches/ monitors etc. Its a show truck, i think the fog effect would be cool.

5. Hornblasters.com Train Horn. After seeing the videos I need to have one of these train horns.

I have some other stuff in mind that I'd like to do after this but I have to see how far my wallet will let me go.

-22" KMC SS wheels

-Performance Work

-Airbrushed engine compartment

Let me know what you all think.

What is with this trend of making really f*cking huge walls for subs that don't need them?

If you had a single 15" MT would you put it in a 7.5 cube box? Of course not. So why do it if you have a wall?

And people wonder why I can smoke them with 1 15" when they have 4. It's called a PROPERLY SIZED BOX!!

wow! Enthusiastic project.... pictures of current setup? Hope your gonna' post build/updates as you proceed. Not many winter projects to view in here right now.

Eager to try a FG design in my trunk...no garage/shop ftl... waiting till spring.

Horns are great for efficiency. They are 8 ohm drivers for the most part but the efficiency is so sky-high that it just doesn't matter. 50 watts at 8 ohms will make your ears bleed.

The problem I see? Having an 8" mid try to keep up with horns. Not only is it much less efficient, but you'll catch quite a bit of distortion trying to make a midbass driver with large cone mass play midrange. Cut your 8" midbass off at 200 Hz and try a high-efficiency dome midrange like a DLS IR3 or Dayton RS52 to play the critical 200-1000 Hz range.

That's how I'd do it anyway. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Oh, and if you're really serious about horns, you absolutely need a 1/3 octave EQ. There is NO getting around this. Horns + no EQ = sounding like the inside of a barrel.

I try to get this across as well...

make sense then..alot of the guys out here in the upper north east have like 15 subs in a 9th order bandpass with 12 passive radiators:rolleyes:. They just dont make sense with there setups.
