Room of Doom?

I remember back at the 97 IASCA world finals in Greenville someone had a room setup with like 16 12s or something of that magnatude tuned to like 11Hz. The opening to the room was like a port and you would walk in and it was just nuts. I remember it had the doors and walls of the convention center moving. Does anyone have any info on this. I didnt get to go to many shows back then so maybe this was at several shows. I've read about two of them. One was an MMats setup with 4 15s in a bandpass and the other was some shop that put like 24 Orion XTR 12s in a wall setup in their shop.

The MMats one is a 4th order bandpass with a port that you can walk through.

Final tuning has yet to be completed, but projections are in the mid 160's hopefully.

So we are thinking 16 RE12s and a Autotek MM1000.1 wired to .5 ohm with a stable 14-18 volts coming from a power supply we would build. We are thinking the room would be about 460cuft after port displacemant. The vent(you would walk through this into the room) would have 14sqft of port area and be 7'x2' with a lenght of 6'. Tuned to around 11-12hz. The subs would be inverted so they would fire into the room. 5 sides of the enclosuer would be in our stockroom, so only the entrance would be visible from our showroom. We will prolly paint or carpet the inside black and have black lights with some strobes in there . We would just play a steady 10-15 hz tone, no music of course. People should be amazed by such a little amp powering this setup.We thought it would be something cool to bring in customers. What do yall think, any interest?

there was something like this at sbn a few years back, it was in a trailer. was pretty fun.

THel ocal audio shop here had one of thoes MTX 24" woofers with a giant clear plastic tube the size of it that essentially made a TL enclosure. It sat in the middle of the show room playing some uber low tone with glitter on the cone floating above it. It was pretty cool.
