Nero question... somethings f'ed up

I have the latest verson of the nero suit, i am trying to burn a dvd image file.. i have a dvd/r .. several actually... im positive they are blank.. i put them in and hit burn.. i get an error saying i need to insert the disc.. when its definatly in there and its definatly a dvd/r i tryed discs from sony, memorex, and another fujifilm i think.. none are working.

I know i can burn cds and i know i can burn dvds, not sure if theirs a difference but ive bunrt both before, wtf is going on now? The file is 3.7 gigs i think and all the discs are like 4.something gig capacity so its not that problem...

fresh out of the box or was it inserted before?.. I have had that happen... usually a partial write, or disc setup on it...

its fresh out of the box... stays it has nothing whatso ever on it in the drive when i hit explore and stuff, not sure what type of dvd burner but i know i burnt dvd's before
