I juzt got a jeep cherokee for my first car. Like alot of people that ive seen are like me and don't know much about car audio. So im all earz to whatever will help me. A couple of my questions are for quailty subwoofers, amps, and speakers would cost how much? Are good tweeterz make that much of a difference from stock tweeters? Im going to a place that i know my friendz recomended, and i feel if i go in there they'll see i dont know much and tryn take of advantage of me. And basiclly try to get more money out of me so i needs to know what is really nececary for a quailty starter kit. I'd like a nice quality sounding system with a bit of bump to it. If anyone can give me some advise i would appreciate it. thanx

do yourself a favor before you go spending your money at a shop, read and try to learn how to do the install yourself. Youll feel alot better knowing exactly whats going on inside your car than not knowing at all. I know how many guys have gone to a shop for their "first install" and then when they figured out how to do it on their own and went back to change some things... realized what the "professional" shops install looked like...

now i'm NOT bashing all shops because there are some good shop owners on this board, but i am saying with a shop you don't know what your getting, where as if you do it on your own, you know exactly what the quality of your install is like.

is that for everything, speakers, head unit, 2 amps and subwoofer?

here this is a budget system i gave someone else earlier... its 768$... but if you wanna do type S door speakers in the front and run them off the head unit(not that i recommend it) but it would knock the total down to 631$

kicker 06zx200.2 2 channel amp 119$

Hifonics BXi1208D 1 channel mono block 238$

Alpine CDA-9884 head unit 199$ (dunno much about it... but its the one you picked)

alpine SPR-17c (6.5 type R coax) 83$

alpine swr-1222D (alpine type R 12" dual 2 ohm) 129$

all these prices are from http://www.onlinecarstereo.com and yes encase your wondering, a single 12" type R off 800-900watts will get loud

you don't need a headunit? and why 2 subs? there are many people hitting over 140db some over 145db with a single type R 12 off 1000 watts very respectable for a budget. not to mention i don't believe your going to find 2 of any sub for less than 120$ that sounds remotely decent and has good output(which judging by the 2 subs comment is im guessing what your going for)

Oh yea and I would definately reccomend buying used check out the classifieds on here. You can get some killer deals just make sure you do your research on who you buy from so you don't get scammed

3/4" MDF, you can get it from home depot or lowes... and both of them should have a panel saw on site and if your nice (and the guys not a douche) they will cut out your entire box... and if not they will cut 75% of it so you only have to make a couple cuts yourself. and if you don't have access to a nice table saw, and don't trust your hand with a circular saw... that guy working the panel saw is your new best friend!
