How much power does he want to use? The SX is more of an SPL sub than the SE. I speak from first hand experience because I have had both.

That is a great deal on that subwoofer. He should be quite happy unless he's looking to be extremely loud.

I think a Type R will be louder than the SE and it is cheaper. Can he go with more woofers or a 15" if it is within his budget?
