Need suggestions for a new laptop.

I just bought a HP Pavillion dv2000 for around 945....I use it for music and all that and i love it, its A great computer, its fast, tons of memory for movies and music. Its great for goin wireless, I would highly reccomend this to anyone. its worht every cent

I would suggest a Mac. I ended up getting a PC through my school so I could warranty it for cheaper but I am seriously dissatisfied that I did this to be honest. Mac>PC

MacBook. my gf just got one a few months back. it is simply awesome. she got microsoft with it and she also got .Mac which allows her to auto backup to a dic of ext hard drive and it also gives her a emails address and a online server.

About 7 months ago I bought a Toshiba Tecra M3 with an Intel Celeron Prossessor clocked at 1.73 Ghz, 512MB Ram, cd/rw/dvd combo drive, wifi, 60 GB HD, Windows XP Pro, etc. No, it's not the fastest, but I love it. Found mine on ebay for about $950. I have always loved Toshiba, and they are really good IMO. And if something goes wrong, I have a 3 year parts and labor warrenty to back it up.

pretty much any laptop with pentium 4 or the Celeron processer is going to do what you want/need. I have built a few for Christmas, for friends, and the most important thing is to make sure you get as much MEMORY AS YOU CAN AFFORD...512 will do fine on a XP op sys but you will be much happier with the extra RAM to start with. If you are going to be processing pics, editing videos/DVD's or playing games also make sure you get a decent video card in it too.

HD space is also important for your pics and stuff but, for the cost and ease of use,... I would stick with about 60 Gig in the laptop and go with a large external HD--I currently use an 120Gig and 250Gig off the firewire (or you can USB port them) -- you can now get internals and buy an external conversion kit for about $30.oo. (again...save money for the important stuff now...toys later)

Depending on the Laptop, they are almost ALL upgradeable in the future (watch out for on board video cards..if you get cheap here you will hate yourself in the future) Like extra USB ports... most basic models come with two...you can get a powered hub and have 7+ instantly. Don't waste money on the unnecisary toys, use what you have for memory/functionality then you can upgrade/purchase extras later.

Edit: (sorry for the redundancy in the post-at work and the phones are crazy today! )

Quick question, is there anything at bestbuy (I know, I know) that wound be worth buying? I can get a good deal (inside man), and I would like to see if it would be worth it? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
