Need suggestions for 2001 Jetta setup.

Hey everyone.

I have a co-worker that is looking for a system in his car. He has a low end Sony HU in it with factory speakers (non-amplified system). He wants to replace all the door speakers and add an amp/sub for around $500.

I havent paid much attention to car audio in a couple of years. My setup is in my sig and while he would like something like that, he doesnt want to go much over $500 including accessories and cables.

Any recommendations for an amp/sub combo? He would like to go with 2 10's, but he is a believer that 10x out of 10 two 10s will always sound better than a single 10. So single or dual setup, doesnt really matter as that's not always the case. He listens to rock mostly - Linkin Park is a band he frequently listens to. Any help is appreciated.

rock music you are going to want more mid-bass etc, i would def get an amp for the highs and mids as that is just as important.
