need some suggestions on $200 5 x 7 coaxials

I'm running 4 Boston sx85's in my Taurus. I haven't amped yet but I can't help but be dissapointed with the small sound/ lack of midbass. But the problem is that I'm stuck with low profile 5 x 7's. Do you think that the amp will remedy the issue or is their a low profile 5 x 7 out there that would have a dramatic difference. Mounting depth is limited to 2-3/4" at best, maybe slightly less.

I would think that 5 x 7's have more surface cone area than 5.25's thus having better kick. Am I wrong?

in some ways but u have distortion issues with 5x7's and a longer throw with 5.25's, hence why midbass drivers are always circle

just buy an amp u need power to get midbass and full potential of speakers, boston makes an amazing speaker, this amp is all u will need

I got to tell you, these boston's sound crystal clear and very rich and I never perceived any distortion from them even at high volumes from my x993. Got em crossed over at 120hz. Maybe I'll leave them in the rear deck and get some 5.25 comps in the doors. how bout them entrly level focals? any good?
