Need some help please

I purchased a used IDmax 10d4v3 and have a question about it. It looks like some type of sealant or epoxy around part of the sub is spread nice and even and there is a section that is not (as you can see in the pics). My question is, is this normal and what it is? Or has a repair been done? Sorry I'm not familiar with what to look for if the sub has been fixed/repaired or not. Everything else seems fine though.
