Hey all...

I just got a new headunit and have had nothing but problems installing it...the car it is in is a 2002 Monte Carlo...and after you disconnect the factory radio there is no accessory lead in the factory harness, so I had to tap into the fusebox to get an accessory lead..no problem...

but now I have no power running through the factory power wire...so I decided to also run a power wire to the fuse box under my hood which has constant power running through it...but when I did this I realized that no matter what my CD player is on...and in order to turn it off I have to manually do it, even when I turn the key to off...and I can turn it on at any time..

so my question is, where can I find a power source that will do the same thing as the factory power wire, or how could I fix the factory power wire? Thanks a lot...

First off, when I think accessory lead I think ACC which only powers up when key is in the ACC position or when the car is on. If your factory headunit worked before you took it out, you have an ACC lead to your factory harness. Are you tapping into the wires on your factory harness? Or, did you buy an aftermarket radio harness that plugs into your factory harness? The right aftermarket harness should have all the wires you need. If I were you I would undo all the new wires that you ran and start from square one. You should not have to jerry-rig anything in that '02 model car. Check fuses, buy aftermarket radio harness if you have not already. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Also, "the12volt.com" has some usefull info on vehical wiring and such.

Also, I just saw his other post , oh well .

Also, I see that the harness interface is fvckin expensive, so TAP away ,as mentioned.

I dont guess there is any money in keeping things simple, FTL.
