So I’ve had a system since I was 16 (28 now), and in all that time I’m still pretty incompetent in terms of correctly setting everything up in terms of the individual settings on each of the components. I mean clueless. So I just fried my Alpine R 12” after 3 years so I’m looking to make sure this time around I have the correct inputs. I also acquired a different Mono Amp. Please help me out as best you can. Thanks. The system that is old and new will be as follows in a week.

- Kicker 40KX8001 Mono 800 Watt Amplifier (New)

- SA-12 D4 REV.3 - Sundown Audio 12" 750W Dual 4-Ohm SA Series Subwoofer (New)

- Alpine CDE-HD149BT (I’ve had)

So please all you knowledgeable people. Can you tell me what the settings should be on each component? I would be seriously grateful. Example would be what the best ohm would be on the sub. And whatever else would make my setup be optimal. Thanks a mil.

Your best setup with that equipment will be to wire the amp with the sub woofer preouts from your head unit, and the sub woofer wired up in 2 ohms. You will need to run at least a fused 6 gauge power wire from the battery to the amp but a 4 gauge would be better. On the alpine head unit it should have a setting for sub woofer volume from 0-15 iirc, the setting doesn't amplify the output, only quiets it down, so I would start at 15 and set the amp gain, then turn the setting on the head unit down if its to loud later. The preouts should put out 4v with the sub woofer volume at 15, so that would mean that your amp will put out close to 800 watts at nominal gain, but you will want to measure the volts ac with a multimeter and check before you attach the sub woofer. Lookup "setting amplifier gain with a multimeter" on youtube and it will break it down Barney style. As for wiring your subwoofer use this image to help wiring it at 2 ohms.

Yup , the dsp should have input sections, it may have one for sub? Hu to dsp. Dsp to amps, amps to speakers. Probably help you to draw this all...
