Need some advice regarding wiring patterns, and amp wattage. easy stuff.

Hey guys. I fried my 10" sub last night so I just bought two 12s from a guy online.

few questions regarding the wiring pattern (ohms) and my current amp strength (is it gonna work nicely, or damage the subs)

subs I bought are Rockford fosgate power 3112 12".DVC 2ohm

Rockford Fosgate Power HX2 RFR3112 12" Dual 2-ohm Voice Coil Component Subwoofer at Crutchfield.com

amp I have is Kenwood KAC 8105D

Kenwood - KAC-8105D

is this wiring right?

I choose 2 ohm to play it safe.. middle of the range. from the rockford rosgate wiring wizard (option #2 )

Rockford Fosgate® - Woofer WiringWizard

does this all look right?

did I do anything wrong?

I have a feeling that my amp is underpowered. I believe my amp is 300 RMS and the subs are capable of 1000 RMS.

sounds like I need a stronger amp or what? if so, what do you guys recommend?

how about my wiring and ohm selection? is that properly done, and the right choice?

I know the basics... maybe. but this has got me confused.

any help and advice would be greatly appreciated.

thanks!

should work just fine, ensure the wiring is proper by measuring the impedence on the positive and negative output terminals of each sub and it should be 4 ohms, wire those two subs in parallel for a final load of 2 ohms. those subs can take 1500rms for the pair without a doubt.

expect to spend $300-$400 for a 1500-2000rms amp, unless you just want a cheap 1k lol

you'll need to find an amp that makes its power at 2 or .5 ohm - thats the only two options you have with dual 2 coils

This amp should do that power or very close to that power I would think.

Next best would be a Soundqubed 2200 I'd think, picked mine up used for $250 shipped

The Rockville M4 did close to that iirc, I know Tfade was recommending them as solid budget amps. I don't think it will handle .5 like the others though.

I know their are a few others out I just can't think of them.

whats the difference between ohms? like performance and sounds wise? is it even noticeable?

when you say increase in electrical, what does that mean?

I dont want something thats gonna rattle the car apart. I just want something thats fairly loud when I want it once in a while, and something thatll pound a little all day long. just a little more than a single 10" which I had maxed out for a 4 hour drive. decided to turn it up 2 more notches and it was pounding very hard, pretty much the perfect amount. then I smelled burnt wires, very strongly. the next day the sub was making a crackling sound.

so I figure a 10" isnt quite enough for me. I went dual 12s figuring ill just run them at approx half of their potential and be happy with it, versus maxing out a 10" all day long every day.

after christmas Ill probably end up ordering that FZ1600D amp and call er a day.

I noticed when my 10" pounded my headlights would dim the tiniest amount... its time for a capacitor eh? any recommendations on that?

thanks guys. good to know my wiring is right at least.

if I were to run it on that kenwood 1000 watt amp that ive got for a week or 2, would that hurt anything?
