Need recommendations for the "old man." '05 Honda Accord Sedan

Well, after spending $4000 and 50+ hours on my audio system, it sparked my father to upgrade his speakers in his '05 Honda Accord sedan. Of course, he's about to turn 50 years old next month and doesn't need the entire neighborhood to hear it. Plus he doesn't want to spend a whole lot of money. Hrmmm, that could be the perfect gift for him!

Anyhow, I'm thinking that he has 6 1/2" speakers in the front doors (2 way) and 6x9" in the rear. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure. He isn't interested in doing any amps at the time, so what would be his best option for kick *** speakers, but not so high price? Basically, one of those most bang for the buck kinda things.

Keep in mind that I get a pretty good hook up on audio equipment. For instance, I asked my connection what he thought would be good and he recommended me:

JBL P652 (6 1/2" 2 way) Sells for $150

JBL P953 (6x9" 3 way) Sells for $200

He can get me both for $170.

So let me know what you think. Thanks!

Triple the views and only 1 reply? I know I'm not inquiring about a high end system as most of you do, but this is going to be my father's gift for his birthday which is right around the corner. Please help me out.

i havent listend to the JBL's, but ive listend to the revs and they sound clean and handle power quite well, Ive also heard that they perform very nicely with normal HU power, which is why probably crfracer recommended those. You should probably run a small 4 channel amp, maybe you can convince your father of powering them up. a nice 4 channel 75x4 rms amp would be good for that I think.

I have Boston Acoustics and they seem to do very well with a small amount of power. I'd look into some of there stuff that is in your budget. Great quality speakers and will still sound pretty good without an amp.

what exactly is your question??

I did a system for my dad he said no amps & no sub..

I installed

Eclipse 8053

Arc 2100 (fronts)

Arc 1500 (sub)

Alpine Type X (Cheap on eBay)

IDMAX12" Sub Sealed

It was awsome He Loved it..

Good luck..

I know my dad, he's not going to want any amps or modify anything to fit different size speakers. He simply wants to replace what's in there already with better speakers. I know that if I went over board with it, he'd ask me why did I waste my money, that he doesn't need it. He's very simple and just wants a little more quality sound.

So are the Pioneer Revs your first choice and what you recommend in my/his case? How do they compare to the JBLs that I mentioned above?

I've got REV's in the rear but off an amp, have never heard them off HU power. If you're sure he won't let you tuck a Profile 4 channel under one of the seats, then I'd suggest JBL GTO series as they'll get pretty loud/clean off HU power.
