Need recommendations for an amp please.....

Hi everyone. I am pretty much clueless when it comes to car stereo's. Always liked them, but never really got into them too much personally. I recently purchased a 12-inch Kicker Solo-baric L7, along with a ported kicker enclosure. What would y'all recommend for an amp to power this thing? My budget is between $300-$500...but I'd really like to keep it below $400 if possible....but willing to bend.

Currently, I am running completely stock with my chrysler 300. I understand I should probably replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket. Any recommendations there as well? Price range on this is about $200-$300. Thanks for any and all help.

Is your L7 dual 4ohm coils or dual 2ohm coils , need to know that to recommend an amp .

Speaking for myself, I bought everything below at woofers etc. Made 2 orders, prompt delivery (same week). I wish I had made different equipment selections, but hey it sounds awesome for 850 bucks..Loud and clear.

I have been eyeballin AQ myself.

Good Luck finding a decent 750 to 1000w 1ohm stable amp for 300 bucks . I got lucky and snatched up one of the last new 21st Anniv. HiFonics XX Brutus 1200w amps I could find for $270.

no - a dvc 2 can only be wired for 1 or 4 ohms, the 750.1 isn't stable at 1 ohm and only produces around 400w at 4 ohms. For about the same money you can get something a lot more effective (700-800w at 1 or 4 ohms).

This would work pretty well -- it will do around 1000w at 1 ohm, but a conservative adjustment of the gain and it would give you just the right amount of power.

Hmm...can you explain what the ohm part of this deal is? I was under the assumption since the speaker is 2 ohms, I needed a amp running 2 ohms to match. What is a ohm? Can anyone gor into detail on that for me please? And why it's ok to do 1ohm amp to a 2ohm speaker?

Your L7 is has 2 voice coils..they are either 2 ohm or 4 ohm EACH.

To get the most out of the L7, I would suggest going with a 1 ohm capable mono amp wired parallel.

I am a firm believer in "No substitute for cubic inches"..I have a one ohm capable amp, I chose 2-4ohm single vc subs in parallel to start = 2 ohms to a one channel amp. I am buying 2 more of the same subs, same box next week, along with a Kinetiks Battery and some electrical rewiring..4-4ohm svc subs = 1ohm load to a 1200 watt one ch amp...and depending on the outcome, prolly be shopping for a slightly more powerful mono amp...I fig real world, on the 4 subs, they should see 200-300 w ea.
