Need new amp, Crunch is overheating

As the Title says, I need a new amp. i was looking at the crunch GPV line, not sure about them. I just bought a PZ1100.2 and im destroying it on my 3rd day of owning it. It's cooking like mad.

Have the gain around 1/4 of a turn and zero boost sitting @ 33hz or so. It was same price at frys as it was on Sonic.

Budget is 100-150(150 is really pushing it)

What i need is 300-600RMS @ 3 ohms.

Maybe some one has one they could sell

Let me ask,

what do you mean by zero boost sitting at 33hz or so??

Are you saying that you have your xo at 33hz??

Also, what sub are you using?

Bass boost is flat, i didnt even touch it. Xo is sitting at around 33hz from what it looks like. the Bass on my head unit is also sitting flat not touched.

I'm using a Polk Audio, no model on the mag as its a very old one. the dealer bought 300 of them or so from polk when they discontinued the line. so i pretty much have the rough in none pretty one. but it slams.

but like i stated, What i need is 300-600RMS @ 3 ohms from what the dealer said

If the xo is at 33hz, that is REALLY low. About the lowest setting that amp has.( you may want to turn it up some, about 80 ish)

And you say 3 ohms, is your polk 3 ohms?( if you have a dmm, can you measure it?)

That amp is a 2 ch and is only 4 ohm stable bridge if that is how you have it. This could be one of the reasons its

heating up like that.

The box says 2 ohm bridged? some ones got a miss print either the box or the site.

Also if the box is set to be around 33-35 shouldnt the amp be the same? if i can find a ohm meter ill test it.

This would be a good amp.

The box tuning and xo on the amp are 2 different things.

The xo on the amp is where you want the high or low pass to start.

For most subs, you do not want much above 80hz going to them so you set the lpf @ around 80hz and the sub will only

get 80 on down(for example)

With you having your xo set to 33ish, you subs are only getting 33ish on down.

You may want to dbl check that. If the adjustment is all the way to the left, then its near the 33 mark. if not then it is

near the 100is mark for that amp.

Bump it up to 80ish unless you feel like your other speakers will reach down to 60 easily, which I doubt.

ill play with both, my rear door speakers (fords half *** bass speakers) put out some good mid bass. but like i said ill give them both a try and see what i should go with

lol damnit, i texted him back asking if could hook it up and test it with 3 heavy bass songs, if it doesnt go in protection its a deal. He stopped posting back QQ. Would been a steal of a deal. half off sonics price and 1/4 of the price of retail.

So i got a MDF-500 and i HATE it, seems like it does NOT produce lows at all.......

time to resell it and keep trying different amps

Disassemble it and place your sub inside it. Should do well as a box. Do you mean the MRP-500? MDF-500 doesn't seem to exist according to google.
