I need some help with a factory Lincoln MKS (with THX II sound system) speaker upgrade.
I am trying to do this the "easiest" way possible first - by just replacing the speakers - if that doesn't improve the sound appreciably, then I will change out the amp as well.
The factory system (THX II) comes with 16 speakers and a 14 channel, 700 watt amp.
There is a 5x7 (4 ohms, 50 watts) and 1" tweeter (8 ohms, 25 watts)(run separately) in each of the four doors.
There is then four 3.5" mid-range (8 ohms, 25 watts)(with no tweeter) in each of the four corners of the car (2 in the front dash, left and right; and 2 in the rear deck, left and right).
There is then a 10" subwoofer in the center rear deck (that states it is 2x2 ohms - not sure what that means).
There are then 3 speakers in the "center channel" that is located in the center of the dash - one 3/4 Inch Tweeter (8 ohms, 25 watts) and two 2.25 Inch mid-range (8 ohms, 25 watts).
What happens if I replace the 8 ohm, 25 watt speakers with 4 ohm, 50 watt speakers...?
