Need Help!

I purchased two Pioneer TS-W1500Spl and hooked them up to my buddies Memphis ST-500d amp just to try them out at 2ohm. They hit hard until the lows come in. They make a scratching sound when the lows come in. Is that a sign of blown subs. They are brand new. This was the first time they were hooked up. I want to know what might be the problem before I hook up a MA Audion HK1000 to them. Please help. If they are blown, I need to get them back out for some replacements.

I was told to push on the cones to see if they make the sound and they don't. I've pushed on the cones and it doesn't make a single sound. My friend says they're not blown but I cant figure out what it could be. The voice coils aren't burnt or anything. I've inspected the subs and they look good. that has nothing to do with the mechanical noise.

are the BOTH making this noise? hook one up, and see if it does it, hook the other one up.

have you tried it at lower volumes with no box?

I did do one and it still made the sound. I didn't try the other.

As far as trying with no box, I'll try that now.

BTW, Here is the box that was designed for me. I built it two days ago to exact specs.

I figured it out. My buddy had them hooked up at 1ohm and the Memphis is only 2ohm stable. As soon I hooked up the Ma Audio HK1000, they worked perfectly.
