need help

I'm new to the modifying my car and audio scene, so i need some general information. I have a '92 4D Acura Legend, and before i go out and get a new deck for the dash (the stock one *****) i want to make sure things fit. I'm looking at an Xplod (tell me if thats a bad idea). Do these and/or most other decks fit universally or are they for a select few makes. Also, whats the difference between CD reciever and CD player?

cd reciever and player are the same, and if you go to crutchfield.com you can look and see what fits your specific car, it has guids that will help you
