Need Help!

Well the box is 38x20x15. So I'm not really sure if that means 4 cubic feet before or after sub and port displacement? Someone should know that. And yes the box is for two twelves.. Is it possible to lower the tuning by blocking some of the port? I know it can be done with aeros but I have never seen it done with a slot port.
Edit: Did the calculation and that comes out to 5.2 cubic feet before sub and port displacement. How much would it be after sub and port displacement then? Im thinking right around 4 cubic feet..
It'd be over 5 cubes if it were sealed, so I'd say your builder's (or whoever gave you the specs) claim of 4 cubes is AFTER port discplacement. It's a big box.

If I were you, I'd pick out the subs I want and THEN build an enclosure. Shoehorning your selection into what'll work well with this particular box isn't really necessary.

EDIT: How the hell did your edit work its way into what I quoted from your post? Hmmm.

i have done Atlas subs in 4.3cf on 2kw they loved it..
Always with the Hifonics. Ugh.

Buy my American Warriors if you love Hifonics so much, holmes. They're from an era in which Hifonics was as good as you think they are now. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yup, the AWs are nice'uns. I have the Falcon & Hawk (both are in fantastic condition). I want as close to $200 shipped as I can possibly get. It's flexible, but not extremely flexible.

Can somebody answer my question about blocking the port to lower tuning? And is this box for sure too big for sa-12s? The type Rs I have in there now are pretty nasty. And they are relatively low end woofers. So I cant see why there isnt any other sub options that would work for this box..

Gahhh There has to be some subs out there that would suit this box

no do not block the port just do a new box for w/e subs you wanna get //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

It's simply too big for most 12"s (it's a tad bigger than Alpine's recommendation for the Type R as well).

Practically any 12" sub will work in that box, but I can honestly think of none that are ideal. I'm not saying an ideal sub doesn't exist, though. I just don't know of any.
