i am thinking on getting a new amp for my 2 re audio se10d4, to replace my hifonics 1006. i have narrowed it down to rf t1000bdcp and the t1500bdcp. i have a 2008 dodge caliber rt, it has a 120 alt, with the big 3 upgrade to 2 or 1/0 guage, will this be enough to carry the 1500bdcp? or should i go with the 1000bdcp? i want to keep the amp at 4ohms. i know rf is known to underate their amps. the re subs are rated at 600wrms, are 82.3 spl, yeah they are power hungry, but they sound goooood. i have them in a sealed box, any help would be appreciated. thanx in advance guys.

i have looked at the aq1200d, but i am trying to maintain a 4ohm load to stay in the sq range, and i now realize, from this site, that for sq i need to stay at 4ohm. i am not looking for loud but clear and deep.

so what should i use? the re's need at least 600wrms each. which would be the most efficient? the rf t1500bdcp at 1000wrms in 4ohm or the aq1200d at 1200wrms in 1ohm?
efficiency and SQ don't go hand in hand. Class D are much more efficient than a class A/B amp, however the signal is more distorted. Though most people will say you won't here the difference in your sub level, only in your mid/high levels.

Basically you want your amp to give you the power you need and not clip its signal. so an AQ would be a great choice.

in the research that i have done, i have been finding info that states the higher the ohm load the clearer the sound, is this correct? if so, is the aq still a better choice in 1ohm than the t1500bdcp in 4ohm? not trying to be difficult or run around in circles, i just want to be satisfied with the outcome. no one has commented on whether or not the stock 120amp alt will be sufficient for either one of the amps.

Get a good battery and you should be fine running 1000w. Most people run about 1000w on stock alts and a good battery around here.

I have never heard anything in relation to ohms and SQ, Chillin said the same thing. Now I'm not saying it doesn't, but in the almost 4 years I have been here, I have NEVER seen it mentioned.

All you really need to worry about with you sub channel is an un-clipped signal. Any good amp will play rated with an un-clipped signal. That is why no one will recommend you to run the Rockford over the AQ.

thanks for the input. with that being said, the rf is probably off the table. how about the sundown sax-1200d against the aq1200d, i know some of this stuff is relative, just trying to get a good quality amp that will not present any problems and be reliable.
