- I asked about your electrical system because you can't simply throw massive amplifiers and subwoofers into your car without proper electrical support. Wiring, battery, and alternator upgrades could, and most likely are, necessary.
- Sound deadening can wait, you're right about that. But most people consider it a part of their install. In fact, deadening your vehicle is generally the opening stage of a proper install.
- The "box" you already have may not accomodate the XXX. If you'd care to do some research you may find that RE Audio's recommended enclosure specs for the XXX are off by a mile. Many people will tell you that the XXX thrives in huge sealed enclosures. You may not even have enough room to use this particular woofer properly.
- I'm glad that your vehicle has a McIntosh factory system. I'm sure it sounds pretty nice. How do you think it'll sound once you have a very powerful amplifier and subwoofer installed? It'll likely be weak as shit in comparison.
- If you really think spending half of your total budget on a subwoofer and the other half on a monoblock amplifier & a wiring kit is acceptable, you might as well opt for a pure SPL sub. Any "real" system is only as good as the front stage. After all, subwoofers only cover a portion of sound. Without a proper front stage, the nicest sub on earth is just a speaker in a box.
