Need Help!

First of all, The RE XXX Is NOT this super end-all-be-all subwoofer. I know that international shipping could be an issue for you, but there are some monster subs that you can buy for a hell of a lot less cash....if they'll ship to you.
Then there's the matter of you not being aware of/willing to purchase anything other than mainstream gear. With a little bit of research you'll learn that many "internet companies" are offering top notch products at a fraction of the price of the mainstream brands. Take the Kicker 10ZX1000.1 for example. That amplifier is rated for 1,000 watts rms and it's $350 from the cheapest seller I can find on google. You could buy an Audioque AQ2200 for $40 more and it'll give you around twice the power.....at a 1 ohm load. Furthermore, you can buy a reliable 1,000 watt monoblock amplifier from several companies for WAY less than $350.

Like I said; You've got a lot to learn.

Sorry but I concur. Sundown Audio is one of the most reputable brands on this site, take a look all around. Actually by most people on here its prolly considered almost the best because they usually dont just do at rated power they do even more and are very stable for even 1 ohm and under. Plus, (I havent had to do this, but that says something there that I havent) I hear that if you need to get your amp repaired or replaced from them the owner is a really good guy and will take care of you. Dont get me wrong though theres other great companys out there. But misfit is right search up on this forum (not the rest of the internet) about products and youll find theres ALOT better to be had than what is out as mainstream and for generally a bit cheaper

Ok a couple replies are needed by the looks of things...

Misfit138: I've heard them and they sound great, definately one of the best I have heard. So what would you consider to be close or equal then because I wanna compare them.. And you generally get what you pay for! e.g. A Kia or Hyundai will NEVER live up to a Ferrari or Rolls Royce!!

Carnivorous18: I am sorry for disregarding sundown audio so quickly, after doing my research they seem like they have their s**t together and are producing some good products. Just never really hear about them, livin down here in Australia.. Plus I lost my license 2 years ago so I haven't needed to deal with car stereos for a while... Whats your opinion on the RE Audio XXX? Is it worth the cash? If not what would you suggest? If so, should I go for the Sundown Audio SAZ-2000D or the Sundown Audio SAZ-1500D for the XXX?

No worries. I havent heard a XXX first person, but I hear theyre not too bad. RE is a good brand, as is DC and Fi. The only ones I can truly give an experienced review on is Fi as I have an 18" BTL from them. Its a beast to say the least. (This tech info all relates to Fi BTL's) Now it depends on how much space you have for a box that will determine what size sub(s) you should get. If you can fit a box with 3-5cubic feet ported, then a 15" is a good middle ground from a 12 or 18. They generally can handle 2000watts rms, but if you get it fully loaded (meaning all the extra options that you can see on Fi's website if you were to order a sub directly from them) then it will be able to handle alot more than 2000. Take for instance mine is fully loaded and im running 3000watts daily on it. It probably isnt at a full 3000 watts yet as I havent properly set the gain and am only running one battery under the hood so far. But like I said they're beasts and you can see evidence of it if you look at videos of them on youtube or other reviews on here. But thats my 2 cents. If you were to go with one of those BTL's you could be safe and run it on an SAZ-2000D whether or not its fully loaded. But once you pass that 2000watt rms line you probably wanna look into really upgrading your electrical system (High output alternator, 2nd or more batteries). And my suggustion is to always do the big 3. If you dont know what that is heres a sticky thread on it.

I can link you to another one if you need the pictures to understand what exactly theyre talking about. But I always recommend to do it in 1/0 gauge wire just to be safe and futureproof. Hope this all helps man and welcome back to the world of car audio

Hows it goen everyone,
I'm currently looking to buy the following to put into my 2004 Subaru Liberty 3.0L;

1x Rockford Fosgate T212D2 Power Series 12" 2000w, 1000w RMS Sub Rockford Fosgate

1x Kicker 10ZX1000.1 2000w, 1000w RMS Amp ZX Amplifiers | KICKER

1x Soundstream SC-20CA 20-Farad Hybrid Digital Capacitor (6th capacitor down) Capacitors

My questions are, is this a good amplifier for that subwoofer? If so, is that a good capacitor for the setup? (Is a capacitor needed? The guy at the local audio store said it is). And, can someone recommend the best brand wires to use? I haven't been around the car stereo scene since I put 2 15" MTX subs in my '05 H2 Hummer when I got it. My budget is around $1500AUD delivered (can go a little bit higher) and I already have the box for the setup. Is there anything else I would need? Cheers in advance for any help you can give!

if you are using a dual 2ohm voice coil sub make sure your amps is 1ohm stable also. you dont need a cap or battery. go with out it for now. beforeyou buy anything ro boost the amperage do the big three.

Yeah, the XXX is a nice sub. The DC Level 4xl is nice too....and you can buy 2 of them for the price of a XXX.

Once again, I'm not too familiar with international shipping. You may not even be able to get the subs I'm referring to.

Carnivorous18: Ok well I am getting a fibreglass enclosure custom made so I can get any size sub really but I was going with the 12" because it's only for the missus' car so I'll wait another year for my license then go all out on my new car //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif Anyone heard both the RE XXX and the Fi BTL 12"? If I do run the RE XXX 12" with the Sundown SAZ-2000D do you think I'll need to run a high o/p alternator or do many mods? I won't be doing the install myself so I'll talk to the guys at the shop about doing the "big 3" while they're at it.. I've been told to go stinger for the wires, is that a good brand or is there better?

Misfit138: Have you heard both of them in 12"? And I only want one otherwise the enclosure cost goes wayy up... I can get anything over here, im magic //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif haha

I think youll be fine by just doing the Big 3. And yea according to Re's website it handles 2000 watts so an SAZ-2000D should be perfect. Same to a Fi BTL 12", even if its not fully loaded. And yea stinger is a good brand for wire. As is knukonceptz. Youd be fine in picking either of the two or whichever is cheaper. Youll save money by buying an amp kit rather than everything seperate too

Ok sweet, but the sundown site says they recommend a H/O alternator when using the SAZ-2000D. Will I really need a H/O or to run another battery? (Ok I'll have a shop around for the wires now) Is the "Kolossus Flex 0 Gauge Power Amp Kit" the way to go for my setup? If so what fuse type should I be getting? And is that all I will need as far as wiring goes? I can only seem to find the SAZ-2000D on one online store //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif Do you or anyone know where else I can find one??

Just spoke to James from Tech12Volt and he said that the SAZ-2000D has been discontinued! Is this true?! If so that puts me back at square one when it comes to amps //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

do yourself a favor and check out the avionixx 2000.1 it is extremely small and lightweight, i have it pushing 2 orionxtrpro124's at 1ohm and it never shuts down! or overheats! check craigslist chicago for 3725 west fullerton! under automotive services

Search around on here for a used saz-2000D thats where you get em or from another site that sells em refurbished. just get it from a reputable seller and youll know its in good working condition. But sure yea that kollosus kit is what i got for my setup too and the saz-2000d has 0 gauge inputs so that works just fine.

And just saying, but ive never heard of avionixx before..

I really would prefer to buy new products.. If I can't get the SAZ-2000D new I'd probably go for another option, but I dunno what brand to start at now lol... Thats gd news on the kollosus kit, so now I've got a sub, enclosure and wires picked out, now just need help with the amp again? What would be the next best to run the XXX?

I'm not hearin great things about the avionixx.. Mixed reports, mostly saying its aiight but nuthn special..

Ok so I've been searchin around the net tonight and the best option I can find to run the XXX is a Pioneer Premier PRS-D2000SPL anyone agree? I can get one (dunno about shipping yet) for about 630AUD, obviously not to my door. Also would a Soundstream PCX2000D be a good amp or is it not powerful enough?

What are you doing for electrical, sound deadener, enclosure, and your front stage?

You said you have $1,500 to work with and you're spending the overwhelming majority of your budget on a subwoofer.
