need help

i have a RF T20001bd i had laying around that i never had installed before. i connected it to 2 15" mmats pro audio 3.0 rated at 750 rms and 1000 max. amp at 1 ohm. the gain on the amp isnt even half way and the subs brand new. when we were playing them for about 5 minutes not that loud they box started smoking.. what should i do?? subs still under warranty so i will be taking them back today but what did i do wrong?? is the amp to much or is there something else yall would suggest??
