i have a bit of a dilema

i have 2 MTX 10" Subs and 1 2-channel Power Acoustik Amp

if i connect the subs 1 per channel theres a hell of a power loss no matter how much i turn up the lvl it sounds weak, if i take one sub off and just leave playing that single sub sound a lot louder then both combined, a friend tried bridging them but the amp gets too hot and shuts down, found some info and the sub isnt stable at 2ohms, the subs are 4ohms, how can i connect then bridged that it wont shut down the amp

or is it simply a matter of cooling the amp more?

at the moment i conected 2 8 ohm (Selenium)subs so it would run at 4 ohms bridged

but it dosnt sound ok sounds kinda muddy.

or should i just change amp?

the MTX Subs are Road Thunder 10-04 series and the amp is a Power Acoustik Ps2-520

I Know the amp isnt ratted to go too high but its what i got at the moment

Any and all help extremely appreciated

Unfortunately you have a mismatch in equipment to do what you want to.

You could continue to run each MTX sub per channel, or you'll need either a different amp or different subs.

its the AMP that wouldnt be stable at 2 ohms. try reversing the polarity of one of the subs and see if that increases thr output. what kind of box are u using?
I agree. Ohms are a measure of resistance. If you hooked a voltage tester with resistance capablities, you could change the reading on the meter by simply pressing on the subwoofer cone. The AMP is what isn't stable. You have to choose between the amp or the subs. It was easier for me to run my subs together in parallel at the box so that I only have to run one speaker wire to my amp which is under my seat. Try getting an amp that is stable at 1 ohm so that if your subs ever blow, you'll have a lot of flexibility as to what subs you can replace them with. When you wire subs together, make sure you know if they are single or dual voice coil subs. I am definitely willing to help you but if all else fails, take the specs of the subs to a car audio shop and they will pick a good amp out for you that will work.

its a single box, im guessing ites to be split?

i have plans on making 2 boxes to place the subs on either side of the trunk in the space between the wheel wells and the rear lights

When you say reverse polarity, wyou mean on one sub or both?

My current dilema is Money, cant really spend anything right now

question on the wiring

most of the diagrams ive seen have wires from one sub to the next then to the amp,

Mines have wires from each sub tied together to the amp, this make any diference?
