hi, well i want to connect a car stereo and maybe an amp, the question here is how do i do it? i know i need to buy a power supply but there are many selections, can i use one with 2.5 amp constant 3 amp surge? i think that can handle the stereo pretty good but will it take the amp. also

any help is good thank you in advance

well the amp. is about 500 watts total power i just bought a 12 amp power supply and it's doing pretty good with the amp but i'm not sure you say that i need at least a 25 amp power supply so should i return this one and buy another?

What amerage is the Amp rated to? Does it have a fuse in it, that's a good place to see what you'll need. If it only has a 20A fuse, then the 12A one you bought should be fine. If it has a 40A fuse in it you aren't going to be happy with the 12, and you may damage either the power supply or the amp.

By the way, you may want to in the future mention that this is not in your car, I'm sure there are quite a few people that read your original post and went waaahhhh?????

well i'm not sure i think it is a 20a fuse but i'm gonna check on that, by the way i already try the power supply and it worked pretty good so i think that is gonna do the work just fine, one more thing can i connect a 2.0 farad to this system what do you think?

If the power supply is regulated, that's a bad idea. When you turn the supply off the cap will still be charged and it will put 12V on the output side of the voltage regulator. Could fry it.

well yeah the power supply is fully regulated so i think that the cap is a bad idea right oh by the way do you think that the 12amp p/s is good for the stereo and amplifier nothing will happen to the p/s or the amplifier right?

50 amps!! do they even sell p/s with that ammount of amps because i really haven't seen one at least in my neighborhood, and yeah i will at least like 3 to 4 hundred watts on my system, so what do you think should i buy a different p/s for the amplifier?

oh i see well that is a big power supply much bigger than the one i got now, well i guess i'll have to return it and get me one of those right, well thank you and hopefully i'll get it in 2 days and let you know how it worked.
