need help

ok i just wired up my sub and when i play it there is a weird smell not like the puke smell that one makes when it is overpowered but just a weird one that i cant describe could it be that it is just a brand new sub and smells kinda like a new car because i don't think i am over powering it

ok well it is 4 ohm sub and my amp is 300 watts x2 at 4 ohms how would i wire it up for a 4 ohm load im new and dont really know much about wiring and all that

If you only have one sub thats a dual 4 ohm you are going to have to wire it to 2 or 8 ohms.

EDIT: Might be too much power for the sub at 2ohms, just dont go crazy with the gain.

I think the amp should do 300 at 8 ohms bridged. The rms of the sub is 350 so it wouldnt be to far off. If it is two ohm stable then you could just use one channel.

ok how would i bridge it 8 ohms is there any diagrams

You would use the positive of one channel and the negative of the other. There should be a little line on the amp showing how to bridge it.
