Need help with WD External Hard Drive

Well I've had it for a while and never had a problem.

Today i dropped it and now when i connect it to my laptop it's not being recognized. It sounds like its working but the message states : "one of USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it"

Is anything can be done to make it work or at least to recover the data?

Too **** fragile,toss it.The data can be recovered but will likely be costly.

put your ear to it, can you hear it clicking?

Its probly done man, and its not worth it to get the data. Check on the site to see if its under warranty, they will give you a new one, but that data is gone.

its not clicking at all man, sounds just like it normally does.

i mean light comes on and it makes usual sound but when its time to for the content to pop up, "not recognized" message's pooping up.

and it was few inches from the floor.
