Need some help from the tech guys..
I have a VA Audio 2001D amp, I have it hooked up to two 15" Memphis. Last week I had it turned up and the amp turned off.. the lead light when red. Well I checked out the amp and woofers and one of them smelled like it fried out. So my 1st impression was that the woofer blew, because the amp came back on and it worked alright, but the woofer smelled fried and did not turn on again. Well I figured that I would just buy another woofer.. well a few days later, I was just running the good woofer turned it up a little and the amp did the same thing. Now the other woofer smelled fried and now it does not work either. But, the amp just comes back on and runs like normal. So I took out the Memphis, figured that they just both blew and put one Kicker Solar baric L7 and hooked it up to the amp. It seemed to work fine, then I turned it up and the amp did the same thing. It turned red and now the woofer does not work also.. It looks like it fried the L7 also.
Can an amp short out the woofers like that? Is that the problem?
Is it worth fixing the amp or just buying a new one?
I want to know what I can do, I just bought two Alpine Type X 12's and do not want to hook them up to the amp if it's going to mess them up too.
