Need help with sub+amp configuration.

I've been lurking around this forum for awhile and I am still pretty inexperienced in the car audio hobby. I have been around old friends that have some really impressive systems so I am not a total noob, just haven't really put much effort into my own car besides installing some cheap coaxials and a HU.

Anyway, I am about to try and finalize my subwoofer and amp setup. I can't decide on a single Fi SSD 12'' or two 10'' Fi X's. They will go in a sealed box for sure (1.1 ft^3 for the single 12) but I am not sure how many cubes I need for the 2 10's. I will most likely only run 500 watts @ 2 ohms for either off of a Cadence 1 channel amp.

My uses for this setup is for just daily driving. I listen to pretty much just rock, metal, rap and some techno. I am going for SQ hence the sealed enclosure but I still want some thump to match or beat my buddies systems (which are laughable, so not hard to top).

Will the 12'' SSD provide much better lows compared to the 2 10's? I am only considering the Fi X's because of their sale thats going on. I want a Fi Q but that is getting a little too expensive for my situation right now.

So please help me out. I am trying to go for a budget build but still get some great SQ out of the setup.

sealed does not equal sound quality. why not do a single 10" ported? you still have plenty to learn

Really? Everyone I have asked said that sealed has a much cleaner sound. I also want to save some trunk room since I actually use my trunk. So I figure that ported will take more room. I am also aware that the quality of the sub is more important than the type of enclosure when it comes to SQ. I was really just asking if the Fi X's have good sound compared to the SSD.

I agree with you that I still have a lot to learn. That's why I joined a forum.

I just bought an Fi X also, 1.6 cubes tuned to 27 and it sounds delicious, not crazy output but not shabby

Thanks Vossy. Is it a 12 or a 10? Glad to hear it sounds good. It doesn't have to be flawless in SQ just sound better than Kickers.

I'm an idiot. I misread the specs and thought it was just 4 ohm, not Dual 4 ohm. I think I will just go with the SSD 12'' for my setup. Unless you think the Fi X can handle 500 watts RMS.
