hey guys im putting together a setup in my 2008 ford ranger. its a 4 door/supercab. im coming from driving a trailblazer with type r comps and coaxials, on 400w rms, and 4 12 L7's on 2400w rms. which was ok but left me disappointed at times. I have 3 amps from my old setup, all 2nd gen alpine pdx amps, PDX F4, and 2 PDX M12's. My source unit is a new Alpine cde-hd138bt. I pretty sure i've decided on my speaker combination, Im going to run a hertz hsk 163, with the 3" and tweeter mounted in q logic 5 1/4 kick panels, and the 6 1/2 mounted in the front doors. in the rear doors i want to run hertz hcx 690's(6x9) or could downgrade to a hertz ecx 570(5x7). subs are undecided, either 4 subs with an rms of 600-750 each, or 2 subs with an rms of 1000-1500 each. Im open to opinions on how to make the best of this setup. should i stuff the kick panels with foam? i hope to sound deaden the doors, would it help to put those plastic baffles behind the door speakers, will that add any punch to the midbass? would i gain any benefits from running a preamp eq/linedriver? i have 4v preouts and using the hertz passive xovers.
