Need help with navi for my Pioneer

This past weekend I upgraded from my stock head unit to a Pioneer avh-p1400dvd. The manual and Pioneer page say to use the AVIC-U220 add on navigation system. My concern is that the loaded maps are 2010 and I can update them to 2011. Is there a way to update to newer maps or can I use a different add on navigation system with newer maps?

Your best approach would be to return the P1400DVD and buy a double DIN with navigation built in. Pioneer's AVIC add-on units are worth more than your head unit. You can get a good used nav unit for under $500. AVIC-U260 sells for $400 from an authorized dealer.
